Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is working in "full cooperation" with the US on a "common strategy" for Gaza, after talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Netanyahu praised US President Donald Trump's "bold vision" for Gaza's future and said he and Rubio had discussed ways to "ensure that future becomes a reality".

President Trump's much-criticised plan for the US to take over Gaza and resettle its population has been ruled out by Palestinians and Arab nations.

'Army of Europe' needed to challenge Russia, says Ukraine's President Zelensky | BBC News

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the creation of an "army of Europe" to guard against Russia as he suggested the US may no longer come to the continent's aid.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he said that Ukraine would "never accept deals made behind our backs without our involvement" after US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to start peace talks.

In a speech on Friday, US Vice President JD Vance warned that Europe needed to "step up in a big way" on defence.

Scientists warn there’s 1 in 50 chance of Asteroid 2024 YR4 striking Earth | BBC News

The chances that an asteroid spotted last year by space scientists could strike Earth in around 8 years time have increased slightly.

Asteroid 2024 YR4 is estimated to be between 40 and 90 meters wide and following a course that will bring it close to Earth in December 2032.

Astronomers now estimate that the chance of it striking our planet is 2% - or 1 in 50 - up very slightly from their previous predictions.

In the coming years scientists will be able to identify the probability of a collision with far more accuracy and are likely to to rule it out.

If the space rock is on a direct course for Earth a mission could be mounted to deflect it from its current course.

Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Rebecca Morelle.

Could Donald Trump stretch the power of the presidency?| BBC Americast

In the first weeks of his second term, President Donald Trump has wasted no time in using Executive Orders to suspend all new asylum claims, freeze government hiring and spending, strip back agencies established by Congress, and offer a buyout deal for thousands of federal workers.

So far, the courts have been the only substantive roadblocks to Trump’s agenda, but is the President ready to defy the courts? The White House has accused the media of "fear mongering the American people".

As Trump pushes the limits of presidential power - and with legal challenges from Democrats, unions and legal groups, is the U.S. heading for a constitutional crisis?

If Donald Trump is willing to break the law, experts are asking who will stand up for the democratic system of government set up nearly 250 years ago?

President Volodymr Zelensky and US Vice-President JD Vance have been discussing the war in Ukraine in a meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Earlier Zelensky said he doesn’t see a “ready US plan” to end the Ukraine war.

Trump had said US, Russian and Ukrainian officials would meet in Munich - but Moscow said they are not sending a delegation to the summit.
