Kartoffelpuffer
Ingredients:
• 4 medium-sized potatoes (peeled and grated)
• 1 small onion (grated)
• 2 large eggs
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• ½ teaspoon salt
• A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
• Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Step 1: Grate the potatoes and onion, then squeeze out excess liquid using a clean kitchen towel.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine grated potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, salt, and nutmeg for an aromatic touch. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan and flatten into small pancakes.
Step 4: Fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
Step 5: Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil and serve warm with a dollop of applesauce or sour cream.
This dish comfortably can be taken as a snack, appetizer or side dish.
