Taking a big initiative, the Yogi government has decided that the Waqf claim will be valid only on the property recorded in the revenue records till the crop year 1359 i.e. the year 1952. Now, the documents presented for claims to the Revenue Department for registering any property in the name of Waqf will be matched with the records of the crop year 1359. If the claims do not match with the records of crop year 1359, then their claim on the property in question will not be valid.
The promulgation of Uttar Pradesh Waqf Rules-2024 was approved in the state cabinet meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to this rule, only the properties recorded in the revenue records till crop year 1359 i.e. 1952 will belong to Waqf. According to this rule, the government will take a decision regarding the lands registered in the name of Waqf after the crop year 1359.
It is said that after the implementation of this rule, if the Waqf claims to register its name on any property in the Revenue Department, then the Revenue Department will see whether the land or property was in the name of Waqf in the crop year 1359 or not. If the documents related to the claim are not found in this crop year then the claim will not be considered. According to this rule, instead of the one-member committee of Waqf, it has been made two-member. The minimum age has also been increased from 18 to 25 years.
