🇩🇪 Legendary Christmas fair Striezelmarkt in Dresden
One of the oldest fairs in Europe. According to legend, the first Striezelmarkt was founded in 1434 by the Saxon Elector Frederick II, who wanted to cheer up his subjects during the dark winter season.
It is said that at one of the first fairs a little boy exchanged his toy wooden horse for a Christmas stollen, which then brought good luck to his family.
One of the symbols of the fair is the giant Christmas pyramid, a wooden ornament that rotates due to the heat of candles. The fair also features a huge Ferris wheel and carousels that create a festive atmosphere for all ages.
Venue: Striezelmarkt Dresden, Altmarkt, 01067 Dresden
Opening hours:
🌲 Until 23.12.2024 daily 10:00-21:00
🎄24.12.2024 - 10:00-14:00
Don't miss the opportunity to try flavoured mulled wine, which, according to a local joke, will warm not only the body but also the soul.
