Manas National Park

▪️ located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya ( Assam), international border dividing India and Bhutan

▪️ Name originated from the Manas River and Serpent Goddess Manasa.

▪️ Declared a World Heritage Site in December 1985 by UNESCO.

▪️ In 1990 the Manas National Park declared world heritage site in danger due to heavy poaching and terriost activities but in 2011 it was removed from this list.

▪️ Project tiger reserve
▪️ Elephant reserve
▪️ Biosphere reserve
▪️ Heavy Rainfall occurs region.
▪️ Himalayan Subtropical Broadleaf forest.

▪️ Two biomes: Grassland and Forest.

▪️ combination of Sub-Himalayan Bhabar Terai formation leading up to the Himalayan subtropical broadleaf forests (semi-evergreen)

Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

▪️ Dibru-Saikhowa is a National Park as well as a Biosphere Reserve situated in the south bank of the river Brahmaputra in Assam.

▪️ The forest type of Dibru-Saikhowa comprises semi-evergreen forests, deciduous forests, littoral and swamp forests and patches of wet evergreen forests.

▪️ It is the largest swamp forest in north-eastern India.

▪️ It is an identified Important Bird Area (IBA), notified by the Birdlife International. It is most famous for the rare white-winged wood ducks as well as feral horses.

▪️ Mammals found in the Park include Tiger, Elephant, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Bears, Small Indian Civet, Squirrels, Gangetic Dolphin, Hoolock Gibbon, etc.

▪️ Maguri Motapung wetland is a part of the Reserve.

Bandhavgarh National Park

▪️ Bandhavgarh National Park, the most popular national parks in India is located in the Vindhya Hills of the Umaria district in Madhya Pradesh.

▪️ It is declared a national park in 1968.

▪️ the famous White Tigers of Rewa were discovered.

▪️ The park also beholds the largest breeding population of leopards and various species of deer

▪️ In addition to the Tigers other attractions includes, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara, Wild Boar and sometimes a Fox or Jackal.

▪️ According to forest officials, there are more than 250 species of birds, about 80 species of butterflies, a number of reptiles.

ARAL SEA

▪️It is a saltwater body in Central Asia & an Endorheic lake lying between Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan.

• The name translates as Sea of Islands (Archipelago in Turkic languages), referring to over 1,100 islands that once dotted its water.

▪️Basin Countries: Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,Uzbekistan.

▪️Primary Inflows: Syr Darya & groundwater (previously the Amu Darya)

▪️It is considered as an example of Ecosystem Collapse, It have been nearly destroyed, not least because of the much higher salinity.
