A People-Centric 2025-26 Budget for Driving Maharashtra’s Progress!

In a significant moment today, DCM and Finance Minister Ajitdada Pawar presented the Maharashtra 2025-26 Budget in the Legislative Assembly. My congratulations to Ajitdada Pawar for his dedicated efforts in ensuring strong financial planning and the effective implementation of welfare schemes.

This people-centric budget drives Viksit Bharat and Viksit Maharashtra, built on five pillars (PanchSutri)—Agriculture, Industry, Infrastructure, Employment, and Social Development.

Maharashtra leads with the highest growth rate, maintaining a balanced budget with a fiscal deficit of 2.7% (down from 2.9%). With a ₹7 lakh crore budget, it stands as the largest after Uttar Pradesh. GSDP growth has averaged 7.5% over a decade, increasing production by ₹5-10 lakh crore and expanding borrowing capacity within limits.

The industrial sector thrives, leading in startups and GST collection, surpassing the national tax collection average by 7% (₹1.5 lakh crore). Industrial expansion, foreign investment, and startups will keep Maharashtra ahead.

Infrastructure planning focuses on 20-year structured road development, ensuring uniform growth from villages to the state level, with external funding from the World Bank, Asian Bank, New Development Bank, and NABARD, also boosting port and airport investments.

Maharashtra has achieved a major milestone in housing construction, attracting significant investment. Through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the state is nearing the milestone of 20 lakh houses, supported by substantial funding from the Centre and State. These homes will be made self-sufficient in electricity through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, and the budget aims to provide free electricity to households consuming less than 300 units.

Agriculture and irrigation have been prioritized with AI, biotech, and drone technology helping reduce costs and boost profits. AI will support stage-wise planning, while Jalyukt Shivar Phase II and river-linking projects get substantial funding to enhance water resources.

A total of ₹36,000 crore has been allocated for MukhyaMantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, ensuring continuous support for our beloved sisters (Ladki Bahin). With 23 lakh women have already become Lakhpati Didi, and the aim is to add 24 lakh more and reach 1 crore. These schemes aim to empower women financially and promote self-reliance.

Social Justice and Tribal Development get a major boost, with allocations up 43% and 40%, focusing on education, health, and employment through individual benefit schemes.

This budget reflects a strong commitment to balanced growth, economic expansion, and social empowerment. With a clear vision for the future, Maharashtra continues to lead the way toward development and prosperity.
