The EigenLayer team stated that the incident occurred as a result of an investor's email being hacked, which allowed the attacker to gain access to the assets.

❌ The hacker managed to steal more than 1.67 million EIGEN (around $5.7 million). He later sold them through a DEX, and transferred the obtained stablecoins to a CEX. Some of the funds have already been frozen, according to EigenLayer.
