Crypto Exchange Kraken Launches Wrapped Bitcoin Token kBTC

The token will be available on both Ethereum and OP Mainnet, and will be backed 1:1 with bitcoin, a company spokesperson said.

The bitcoin will be custodied in Kraken Financial, the exchange's U.S. qualified custody solution, in a segregated wallet.

The minimum deposit size for kBTC on both Ethereum and Optimism will be 0.00026 BTC, which is around $15, assuming a bitcoin price of $60,000.

At launch, kBTC will be supported across several blue-chip DeFi apps, and its partners will include: Kraken, Kraken Wallet, Ethereum, Optimism, Paraswap, Yearn, Gauntlet, deBridge, Definitive, CowSwap, Beefy, Velodrome, Curve and Morpho.

Binance has announced the 60th project on Binance Launchpool - Scroll (SCR)

Users will be able to lock their BNB and FDUSD to receive SCR Airdrops over two days, with farming starting from 2024-10-09 00:00 UTC.

Binance Pre-Market will then list SCR at 2024-10-11 10:00 UTC and open pre-market trading for the SCR/USDT trading pair.

Department of Homeland Security investigators say they’ve thwarted hundreds of ransomware cyberattacks before they occurred and have seized billions of extorted crypto since 2021.

United States government agencies were the top targets, accounting for 21% of the disrupted hacks, more than any business sector, Mike Prado, the deputy assistant director of Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) Cyber Crimes Center, told Bloomberg in an Oct. 4 report.

The division has disrupted 537 ransomware attacks since it was formed in 2021 and has traced and seized $4.3 billion worth of crypto on exchanges and hackers’ devices, which was stolen through extortion payments.

EigenLayer: β€œIn an isolated incident this morning, an email thread involving one investor’s transfer of tokens into custody was compromised by a malicious attacker.

As a result, 1,673,645 EIGEN tokens were erroneously transferred to the attacker’s address. The attacker sold these stolen EIGEN tokens via a decentralized swap platform and transferred stablecoins to centralized exchanges. We are in contact with these platforms and law enforcement. A portion of the funds have already been frozen.

The compromise has not impacted the broader ecosystem. There is no known vulnerability in the protocol or token contracts and this compromise was not related to any onchain functionality.

We continue to investigate the situation and will be posting further information once we have it.”

CZ: β€œgm, the food taste so good... And what a luxury to be able to have more than one piece of fruit per day!

I know some of you may have a lot of questions. I won't have all the answers.

Let me chill for a bit. Then figure out the next steps. There are always more opportunities in the future than there were in the past.

I want to thank everyone for your support. It meant a lot to me, and kept me strong in the darkest moments.

A few quick updates/thoughts:

Giggle Academy has been going well, and will be a big part of my life for the next few years.

Will continue to invest in blockchain/decentralized technologies, AI, and biotech. I am a long term investor who care about impact, not returns.

I will also dedicate more time and funding to charity (and education). I have some rough ideas.

Still working on my book. About 2/3 done, I think. Writing a book is a lot more work than I anticipated, but will see this one through.

Oh, Binance seems to be doing well without me back-seat-driving, which is excellent. Every founder's dream!
