๐Ÿšซ Indiaโ€™s IT ministry banned Telegram for one week because some users shared leaked exam questions.

This punishes 150 million ordinary Telegram users in India โ€” not the insiders who leaked the exam materials.

And the ban hasn't stopped anything. The leaks just moved to other apps.

๐Ÿ›ก Weโ€™ve done a lot to help fix the problem โ€” even though its source is not Telegram.

Over the past few weeks, we removed hundreds of channels sharing leaked exam materials and related scams in India.

Weโ€™ve also been making the โ€œeditedโ€ label more visible to prevent backdating scams.

๐Ÿณ๏ธ Telegram is a force for good. Banning it โ€” even temporarily โ€” is a mistake.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Telegram CEO Pavel Durov arrested at airport near Paris, French media reports

France's OFMIN, an agency tasked with preventing violence against minors, had issued an arrest warrant for Durov as the coordinating agency in a preliminary investigation into alleged offences including fraud, drug trafficking, cyberbullying, organized crime and promotion of terrorism, one of the sources close to the case told AFP.

Durov is suspected of failing to take action to curb the criminal use of his platform.
