Ultimately, I aim to be a leading force in creating accessible and inclusive environments in India, with a deep commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities in partnership with individuals, organisations and governments. The mindset change, combined with positive action on the ground and many policy changes have been encouraging. Today, many women with disabilities are excelling in sports, commerce, education and more. May we keep adding momentum to this and cement India’s position as a pioneer in this area.

Additionally, I have also conducted numerous accessibility training workshops throughout the Asia Pacific region. I have played a small part in adding to the ongoing initiatives of building a resource pool of access auditors, both nationally and internationally. My practical experience includes conducting access audits of several sites in India including the pilgrimage spaces under PRASAD scheme and in public transportation spaces.

Recognising the importance of basic needs, I’ve worked on WASH facilities for persons with disabilities and conducted anthropometric studies to better understand the needs of mobility aid users. Our collective success in Swachh Bharat has particularly benefited persons with disabilities.

Our emphasis has always been on integrating technology to ensure skilling and financial inclusion of women. It would amaze you all, the ease with which India’s women are adapting to technology. Our ‘Meri Saheli App’ is a small contribution to harnessing tech and AI to help rural women become entrepreneurs. It has also enabled the world to see the strengths of our women in diverse areas like agriculture, healthcare, consumer durables and financial literacy.

मैं अनीता देवी, नालंदा जिले के अनन्तपुर गांव की रहने वाली हूं। मैंने जीवन में बड़े संघर्ष देखे हैं। लेकिन मेरा हमेशा से मन था, अपने दम पर कुछ करने का। 2016 में मैंने खुद स्वरोजगार करने का निर्णय लिया था। उसी दौर में स्टार्ट-अप्स का इतना क्रेज बढ़ गया था। इसलिए 9 साल पहले मैंने भी अपनी माधोपुर फार्मर्स प्रोड्यूसर कंपनी लिमिटेड की स्थापना की।

Space technology, nuclear technology and women empowerment…

We are Elina Mishra, a nuclear scientist and Shilpi Soni, a space scientist and we are thrilled to be helming the PM’s social media properties on #WomensDay.

Our message- India is the most vibrant place for science and thus, we call upon more women to pursue it.

My current assignment includes serving as Associate Project Director for GSAT-22/23 communication payload to cater communication needs for India’s citizens. Earlier, I was fortunate to have been a part of the ISRO delegation to French Guyana, Kourou for the launch of GSAT. It gave me so much satisfaction to see the spacecraft being launched to space, in which I contributed along with a brilliant team.

I am @chessvaishali and I am thrilled to be taking over our PM Thiru @narendramodi Ji’s social media properties and that too on #WomensDay. As many of you would know, I play chess and I feel very proud to be representing our beloved country in many tournaments.

I want to further improve my FIDE ranking and make my country prouder. Chess has given me so much and I look forward to contributing more to the sport I love. In the same spirit, I want to tell young girls to pursue any sport they feel like. Sports is among the best teachers.

I’ve also got a message for parents and siblings- SUPPORT GIRLS. Trust their abilities and they’ll do wonders. In my life, I have been blessed with supportive parents, Thiru Rameshbabu and Thirumathi Nagalakshmi. My brother, @rpraggnachess and I also share a close bond. I have also been fortunate to have excellent coaches, teammates and of course I am very inspired by @vishy64theking Sir.
