🇩🇰 THE CIRCELBROEN PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE IN COPENHAGEN
Cirkelbroen (Circular Bridge) was designed by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. It opened in 2015. From a distance, Circelbruen resembles sailing ships moored side by side — a tribute to the maritime past of the area. The bridge also has a zigzag path, which Eliasson hopes will make passersby slow down a bit for self-awareness.
The 40-meter-long bridge consists of five interconnected platforms, each of which has its own mast held by metal cables. Small boats and boats can sail under it, and in order to allow large vessels to sail, it moves apart in the central part.
About 5,000 cyclists, runners and pedestrians use the bridge daily to cross the mouth of the Christianshavn Canal. The nearest metro station is Christianshavn. From there, you can walk to Cirkelbroen in about eight minutes.
