Facts About Mahabharat Which Are Never Disclosed In TV Serial, Some Misinformation Regarding Mahabharat Debunked
1. Mahabharata was initially called Jayasamhita written by Bhagawan Ganesha and narrated by Vyasa. After that, it was narrated by Vaishampayan to King Janmajaya and was called Bharata. After some time, Rishis measured the knowledge of Vedas and Bharata in which Bharata over weighted Vedas. Hence, onwards it was called Mahabharata (The great Bharata). This is mentioned in 1st chapter of Adi Parva itself.
2. The number 18 plays a significant role in the Mahabharata like, it has 18 Parva, the war lasted for 18 days, Bhagavad Gita has 18 chapters, etc.
3. Dhritarashtra had 102 children, 100 Kauravas, one daughter, Dushala, and Yuyutsu (son from a dasi) and Yuyutsu was the only Dhritarashtra's son who not only fought the battle alongside the Pandavas but also survived the battle.
4. Vidur was the avatar of Yamraj and was a great scholar of Dharma Shastra and Artha Shastra. Due to the curse of Rishi Mandavya, he had to be born as a human.
5. Nakula was the most handsome man on the earth. He was compared to Kamadeva due to his good looks. He was a master swordsman and was equally well-versed with the bow, mace, and other weapons too. He had a great talent for riding a horse even during very heavy rainfall.
5. Nakul was an expert in Ayurveda. He was also an excellent housekeeper and a rider. Nakula's deep understanding of horse breeding and training is documented in the Mahabharata, after the death of Narakasura by Krishna. In a conversation with Virata, Nakula claimed to know the art of treating all illnesses of horses. He was also a highly skilled charioteer.
6. There are many other Gitas that exist like Guru Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, Udhava GitaBhikshu Gita, Vyadh Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, Parashar Gita, etc. I personally know 42 kinds of Gita, Though Shri Bhagavad Gita is the pure and complete Gita which contains information by Shri Krishna.
7. Foreigners were also involved in the fight of Mahabharat. The real fight was not just between Pandavas and Kauravas, Some of the experts speculate that forces from Rome, Greece were also a part of it.
8. In Bhishma Parva, right before the beginning of the battle, Shree Krishna approaches Karna on the battlefield and asks him to fight for the Pandavas until Bhishma dies, an offer Karna refused.
9. The story of Arjuna's chariot moving backwards by two steps when Karna's arrows hit and Sri Krishna applauding him, does not find place in Mahabharata. But, It surely mentions that Karna's arrow misses Arjuna's head due to Sri Krishna's intervention. Also, Gandiva was dropped off from Arjuna's hand due to the force of Karna's arrow.
10. Unlike TV serials, Karna was actually the student of Dronacharya. Dronacharya only refused to give him the knowledge of divya astra as he was jealous of Arjuna. Vana parva confirms it.
11. Satyaki defeated Karna many times, even during the Karna Parva when Karna had Shalya as his charioteer. When Karna was made generalissimo of the Kaurava army still he was defeated by Satyaki. Satyaki defeated Karna during the day of Drona's death as well. Satyaki defeated Karna and his son Vrishasena before Karna killed Ghatotkacha too. Satyaki even defeated Karna during the 12th day.
12. Draupadi was born from the yajna's fire that's why she had a dark complexation and yet she was considered to be the most beautiful woman of her era and was called krishna.
13. During the Agyat varsha of vanavas, Dhuryodhana attacked Matsya kingdom ruled by king Virat. Disguised as the eunuch Brihannala, Arjuna defeated the entire Kaurava army including Karna, Drona, Bhishma, Ashwathama, Kripa & Duryodhana.
14. Krupacharya was the first teacher of Kaurava and Pandavas followed by Dhronacharya.
15. Draupadi never made fun of Duryodhana by saying anything like 'blind son just like his blind father nor she made fun of Karna during her swayamvar.
