UPSC Prelims 2024 Answer Key

This answer key has been prepared after referring to various official government websites, government websites, PIB, newspapers, and reports to ensure very minimal discrepancies.

Questions that are debatable have been highlighted in two different colors (yellow and green). For the purpose of marks calculation, consider the answers highlighted in yellow. Go through this PDF and check how much you are scoring.

Regarding Cutoff

In this video, I've discussed the expected cutoff and objectively defined the reasons and rationale behind why it is likely to be the most probable cutoff.

After referring to the key and cutoff, put a full stop to marks calculation and cutoff speculations, and start your mains preparation.

I'm getting a lot of messages from you, and I'll definitely be replying to each and every one of you.

I know you're all feeling a mix of emotions right now, but please take some time to rest. Some of you might feel the exam went well, while others might not be as satisfied.

Take a deep breath, everyone—regardless of how you think you did, you walked into that exam hall after months of relentless effort and countless sleepless nights, and that's something to be incredibly proud of. I'm incredibly proud of each and every one of you. You've poured your heart and soul into this, and you deserve a break.

Please don't get caught up in answer keys and cutoffs just yet. Many coaching institutes have already released their answer keys, but as we've seen in the past (including last year and even before), these keys can be inaccurate.

Regarding the cutoff, last year, many coaching centers predicted it to be around 85, but it turned out to be 75 because many factors come into play that we tend to overlook while predicting the difficulty level of the paper while sitting in an AC room. (Yes, paper was less vague and easier than last year but itna bhi easy nahi tha ki 100+ cutoff chali jaye. 100+ cutoff last 6 years se nahi gayi hai)

Isiliye Picture Abhi Baki Hai. Give yourselves some time to process your emotions.

No matter what the results are, we have to start preparing for the mains soon, and I will be discussing that in a couple of days.

I mean, can't they have an iota of sanity and consider the impact this could have on the minds of aspirants who are still in the middle of their exams and have to take the second paper, CSAT, as well? God, please give such people some wisdom.

For those who are taking the exams, for now, just forget about Paper 1 and focus on CSAT with a clear mindset.

Bholenath blessings are with you and kal wo apki taraf se khel rahe hai so there's no need to panic at all.

I want you to know I'm so proud of you. I'm proud of your guts, zeal, dedication, perseverance and continuous efforts.

I'm so proud that you have not given up and are giving your every bit with your head held high. You've come so far, and I know you'll do great things.

Just remember, everyone will have more or less the same knowledge, but this exam is all about temperament. Jo apne nerves par control kar liye wo khel jayega.

Now is the time to have complete faith and trust in yourself and in your preparation. Your preparation is more than sufficient to clear the cutoff. Just maintain that self-belief. Jo bhi hoga, jaisa bhi hoga, sambhal loge.

I have seen many people clear it with little knowledge and the right mindset.

Just remember 2 points:

1. Remain calm throughout the paper. If the paper is difficult, it will be difficult for everyone. But if you maintain your composure, you will have an extra edge over others.

2. Don't discuss the GS1 paper during breaks and don't carry GS1 baggage into the CSAT paper. Approach the CSAT paper with a completely fresh mindset. If you remain calm, you will easily find enough questions in CSAT to smoothly clear the CSAT cutoff, no matter how the paper turns out. Plus, if you clear CSAT, you are already in the top 5%.

So don't panic at all.
Just give your bestshot with positive mindset.
