​​🌧 Gokak Falls

Gokak Falls is known for its beautifully turbulent waters gushing over the rocks and down to a fall of 52 metres (170 feet). This humongous waterfall has a 170 meter long, hanging rope suspension bridge built over it that which allow visitors to walk right above the fall and feel the wind pushed by the river. The falls are located 60 km from Belgaum city.

Gokak Falls gets its name from the Goki river of the region. Starting from the Ghataprabha river, that traverses a long distance before entering the rocky belt of Gokak, the waterfall is 52 meters in height. Falling into the Gokak valley, the falls crash against the valley and form a horseshoe at its crest. Apart from the colour of the water and its width of 177 metres, the general features of Gokak Falls give it a resemblance with US’s Niagara Falls.

​​🕌 Gaddige Raja's Tomb

Built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, this beautiful structure of Gaddige Raja's tomb is the mortal remains of the Kodavad Royalty. These tombs date back to 1820. The structure houses three tombs, the central one for the Kodava King Doddaveerarajendra and his wife Mahadeviamma, the other two tombs are for the Chikkaveerarajendra's father and his guru, Rudrappa. A few meters from the tomb is the Muttappa Temple.

​​🕌 Gulbarga Fort

Arguably the most popular tourist attraction at Gulbarga, this fort was built in the twelfth century by the Kakatiya king Raja Gulchand. This granite monument imposes a stunning façade which exhibits a beautiful blend of Persian and Indian architecture. Renovated by the Bahmani rulers two hundred years later, the Fort was expanded to strike a formidable barrier to invaders. ​​🕌 Chaukhandi of Hazrat Khalil Ullah

Located at a distance of 4km from Bidar, Chaukhandi is a tomb created in the honor of Hazrat Khalil Ullah, the spiritual advisor of Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah.

The tomb is in itself a magnificent structure featuring a two storied octagonal shaped tomb adorned with stone work and beautiful calligraphy. It also features granite pillars with incredible carving.

​​🌊 Barkana Falls

The Barkana Falls are located between Agumbe and Shimoga and derive their name from ‘Barka’, the mouse deer, a shy creature that inhabits this particular region. The trek route runs through the dense rainforests of the Western Ghats. During monsoons, the regions start buzzing with life as new streams begin to emerge and the canopy of vegetation gets dense enough for any traveller to lose orientation. The best time to visit these falls are in the early days of winter.

​​New Mangalore Port

The New Mangalore Port situated in Panambur, Mangalore in the state of Karnataka is run and governed new Mangalore trust. It is one of the most major ports located in Karnataka and is the seventh largest port in the country. It was inaugurated on 4th May 1974 by the then prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The port lies in Panambur that is, the west coast of India. It lies to the north of Phalguni River to the Arabian Sea.

New Mangalore Port is a remote area of all the coasts located in Karnataka and Kerala. Being the seventh largest port in the country, it is a place where some of the most primary commodities are imported as well as exported.

Some of the major products which are exported include pellets, iron ore fines and concentrates, coffee, cashew, manganese, granite stones and containerized cargo. Some of the commodities which are majorly imported include LPG, crude, petroleum products, wood pulp, logs of timber, fertilisers, liquid ammonia, liquid chemicals, containerized cargo and numerous other products. All the projects associated with the port were started in 1962.

​​Kundadari

Situated about 12 km from Thirthahalli, Kundadri is a hillock known for the Jain Temple perched at the top of it. Blessed with bounteous natural beauty and an amazing view of the mountains in the backdrop, the place is a trekker’s haven and a paradise for nature lovers.

​​Bahamani Tombs, Bidar

A cluster of 12 tombs located in Ashtoor is what is known as Bahmani Tombs. The tombs comprise of large mausoleums adorned with lofty domes, arches and niches. The most sought after tomb is that of Ahmad Shah-Al-Wali which is best known for its fascinating walls engraved with verses from the Quran in gold colour.

The paintings on the wall of the tomb are quite spectacular. The salient feature of the tomb is the swastika symbol that adorns the wall of the mausoleum. Another popular tomb is of Sultan Allauddin Shah-II featuring beautiful tile panels and arched with carved borders.

​​Captain Bailey's Dungeon

A brick and mortar fortress built for the imprisonment of Tipu's prisoners of war, it is named after Colonel Bailey who passes away here in 1780 AD. A cannon that had backfired and fallen into the dungeon during the military blockade and can be still seen here.

​​Raja's Seat

Raja's Seat is a garden built on an elevated ground overseeing the valleys that lie to the west, making it a popular viewpoint to watch sunrise and sunset. Dotted with flowering plants and skillfully designed artificial fountains, Raja's Seat is located in Madikeri in the district of Coorg. The garden was a favourite venue to rejuvenate for the Kings of Kodagu, and they loved watching the sunsets sitting here as they spent some memorable time with their Queens. The garden here is a preferred picnic spot for the locals.

There is also a Toy Train available for your little ones to take a ride on and the fountains have been modified into musical fountains. Today, this place is managed by the Archaeological Survey of India and is considered of historical importance in the country. The Raja's Seat View Point is a huge semicircle pavilion built in the garden and located in such a way that the visitors get the best view of the green valley, especially during sunrise and sunset.

​​Bidar Fort

Bidar Fort is an exemplary symbol of the Bahmani Dynasty, built by Sultan Alla-Ud-Din Bahman. Constructed in Persian architectural style, the fort complex houses an old city comprising over 30 structures, including the Rangin Mahal, Gagan Mahal, Takhat Mahal etc.

The old city of Bidar is said to be the home of Vidur, the uncle of the Pandavas in the story of Mahabharat. However, it saw prosperity during the middle ages as the capital and seat of power of the Bahmani dynasty. As per that folklore, the glorious fort has a colourful past and has seen the rise and fall of a good many ruling families of South India - Satvahanas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Kakatiyas and Yadavas are the more known names among them. Later it fell into the hands of the Sultanates, Mughals, and Nizams; and over the years it has seen renovation, development and enrichment of its constructional beauty.

​​Gumbaz

The Gumbaz, or the burial chamber of Tipu Sultan and his parents is one of the most prominent structures of the city, with doors crafted from ivory, sprawling corridors and walls with tiger stripes, said to be a favorite of Mysore's very own tiger, a mosque and a beautifully laid out garden.
