At the stroke of the midnight hour, a nation awoke.
After years of chains, of struggle and hope.
The Tricolour rose, the silence broke.
And freedom arrived as a promise we spoke.
“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”
Nehru's words echoed, solemn and bright.
A dream carried through darkness, now bursting with light.
A nation stepping forward to claim its right.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, the chains fell away.
The long night ended, and dawn found its way.
Millions rejoiced, hearts filled with pride, but millions also wept on the other side.
Punjab was divided, Bengal torn apart, borders cut through homes, through land, through heart.
Families were scattered, friendships were slain.
Trains crossed the borders carrying sorrow and pain.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, freedom came with a scar.
For Partition had placed new borders where old bonds once were.
A few had fallen for the politics of divide.
But millions refused to let hatred decide.
Hindu and Muslim, Sikh and Christian stood tall.
Different faiths and cultures, yet united through it all.
They chose humanity when hatred called.
They held each other when old walls fell.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, remember the flame.
The martyrs who gave everything, without asking for fame.
Remember the freedom, remember the pain,
Remember the unity that rose again.
For freedom was not gifted, nor won by a few.
It was built by millions brave, steadfast and true.
Through sacrifice, struggle and courage untold,
A nation's destiny was finally moulded.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, let the Tricolour soar.
Let the wounds of the past teach us forevermore.
Never let hatred divide what sacrifice made one.
For India's journey continues beneath the rising sun.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, a nation awoke.
And generations later, the promise still spoke.
To protect our freedom, our unity, our light.
And keep India's spirit forever burning bright. 🇮🇳
Happy Independence Day.
