Yes, that understanding is correct. In Islam, as well as in general human ethics, it's important to treat everyone, including those with disabilities, with dignity and respect. Laughing at someone with a disability is seen as disrespectful and hurtful. Similarly, while feeling compassion is natural, showing overt pity can sometimes come across as patronizing or demeaning.

The proper approach is to treat people with disabilities as equals, showing kindness and support without making them feel lesser or defined by their condition. Empathy, rather than pity, is key. It involves understanding and respecting their experiences without making them feel uncomfortable or pitied.

Somebody said that if you see disabled person you should not lough or feel pity at them. Is it correct ?

In Islamic teachings, entering Jannah (Paradise) depends on a person’s faith (iman), deeds, and the mercy of Allah. People with disabilities are highly respected and shown compassion in Islam, and their struggles in this life are seen as a test of patience and perseverance.

There are hadiths that suggest people who endure hardships in this life, including physical disabilities, are rewarded greatly by Allah. Allah’s justice and mercy are paramount, and He knows best the challenges each person faces. While it is believed that those who remain patient and strong in their faith through such trials will receive great rewards, whether they will enter Jannah without any questioning is ultimately known only to Allah.

Every individual's situation is unique, and Allah's judgment is perfectly fair and merciful.
