Hackers demand France’s Schneider Electric pay a $125k ransom in baguettes
Schneider Electric has confirmed a breach of its developer platform after the hacker "Grep", part of the Hellcat group, stole 40GB of data from their JIRA server by using exposed credentials.
Grep accessed 400,000 rows of user data, including 75,000 unique emails and names of Schneider Electric employees and customers using a MiniOrange REST API.
The hacker demanded $125,000 in "Baguettes" not to leak the data, or half the amount if Schneider releases an official statement. Schneider's products and services are unaffected because of this.
