🇩🇪 The German government will pay for young people to stay in a medieval castle
An unusual volunteer programme called
Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr (FÖJ) is running in Germany. Young people will be able to spend a whole year in a medieval castle as part of it. The initiative aims to develop environmental awareness, personal growth and deepen knowledge of nature conservation and culture.
Programme participants not only get a unique experience, but also:
📌 social guarantees (medical, pension) and accident insurance;
📌 financial support - monthly allowance (including food and accommodation costs);
📌 pedagogical support - participation in thematic seminars (minimum 25 days per year);
📌 possibility of counting the year as practice for university entrance.
The volunteer project is intended for young people aged between 15 and 26 years old. The programme is available to everyone, regardless of nationality, and lasts from 6 to 12 months (with the possibility of extension up to 18 months).
