FAZAL ALI COMMISSION
The States Reorganisation Commission (SRC), popularly known as the Fazl Ali Commission, was appointed in 1953 to address the growing demand for states based on linguistic identity. It submitted its report in 1955.

KEY RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Rejection of language as the sole basis for reorganisation
2. Proposed reorganization of India into 16 States and 3 Union Territories
3. Departure from existing state boundaries, taking into account administrative, economic, and security considerations.
4. Dissolution of four-fold classification of states: Abolition of the existing classification of states (Part A, Part B, Part C, and Part D) to promote greater equality among states.
